I use Ivomec (1% Cattle/Swine) usually 2/10ths of CC & squirt in back of mouth or on tongue. (Does anyone inject subcutaneously?) Has anyone ever heard that it can burn a dogs nose out & is this an old wives tale? Also, I don't mix it with anything, just squirt it in. Does anyone mix it? With what & how?

Ivermectin is an irritant and very bitter. Touch just a bit to your tongue and you'll quickly see why it's a kind thing to dilute it for the dogs. Some put the ivermectin on a little piece of bread, others mix in water and squirt it into the mouth with a syringe (needle removed of course).

I get propoleyne glycol from my vet, use 98 cc's of PG with 2 cc's of Ivermec. I give 1 cc to each dog per month. A very weak solution, but enough, my vet says, to take care of heartworms. Ted Peercy

I mix mine with milk or fruit punch. I've been doing it for a couple of years now and have had no problem.

I don't think it effects a dogs nose any. I sold a squirrel dog almost 8 years ago and he was over 7 then. He's been on Ivomec all his life and for years was never wormed with anything else. He's almost 15 and still getting pups. My vet has many records of dogs like this on Ivomec. Ivomec is very bitter.

I inject mine under the skin at the same dosage at 1/10 cc per 10 lbs. I have been doing this for years and have never had a problem. My vet says both way (oral and subcutaneously) are fine. I just prefere to inject. It is quicker for me and no mixing or bad taste in the dogs mouth.
