JR, I don't want to step on your toes here but Tom Sharpe lives in Hampton, NH if you should want to call him. I have a 13" male off Tiger that's running well at about 18 months. He is extremely aggressive but seems to channel it in the right direction. I'm hoping he doesn't get overcompetitive and learns to co-operate more than try to beat his packmates so I'm giving him a fair amount of solo time. This dog's dam's sire was a cousin to Tiger's dam so the cross was somewhat close. The female littermate is a more consistent hound day to day, but the male has the chance to be exceptional if I handle him right. Tiger is throwing some nice dogs.

JR, I was up your way a couple of weeks ago doing some trout fishing in the Katahdin Iron Works country. Weather was nasty with wind and rain but the fishing was fairly good when the wind wasn't blowing the canoe all over the pond. Saw a lot of moose and quite a few deer too, but best of all, hare were EVERYWHERE! I may go hunting up there next December if the snow doesn't get too deep.

Orlie (sp?) McLain from New Brunswick was the only person in Canada who held a permit to trap and sell hare. Most of the clubs in the northeast purchased their hare from him. The Canadian government has told Mr. McLain that when he retires there will be no more permits issued so it looks as though this avenue will be closed as Orlie wants to retire. There's still a chance that Orlie will continue but it's a slim one. I don't know if there are many hare in southern Maine but in northern and eastern Maine there are literally millions! Some areas are better than others but you're never very far from hare habitat when you get north of Augusta.
