A general forum for the discussion of hunting with beagles, guns, clothing and other equipment and just talking dawgs! (Tall tales on hunting allowed, but remember, first liar doesn't stand a chance)
A very good friend of mine was out running his 2 dogs last night and some son of a bitch shot them. He said that one came into him screaming her head off and the blood was pouring from her face. The other did not come back to him. He had to wait for over 45 mins for the law to get there before he could go find his dog. He was able to get both of them to the vet. The one that he had to go find is the worst. He don`t know forsure if she is going to make it. She was also just breed to Reggie about 2 weeks ago. The last i heard they both was stable. His Belle dog was in shock the vet said. Belle was the one breed to Reggie. Belle is like a kid to him. He is on the board here. He goes by Stevo. Buddy i wish you all the luck in the world with them and i hope that son of a bitch gets was he has coming to him. I hope they both pull out of this and get them back home alive. May the be with you my friend.
was it the property owner or just a guy in the woods who shot the dogs? Does he know who the guy is? Sorry to hear a story like this! Lesson 1.....when your dog is bred put it up and take no chances!

I hope that both dogs make a complete recovery and the bred female has her litter. It would be interesting to hear the whole story of how this transpired as there are some real idiots packing a gun these days. One never knows who will do what in any given situation and as dog owners and hunters we have to be like motorcycle riders, vigilant of the other guy at ALL times.

In WI, it doesn't matter if you own the property or not, it is illegal to shoot any dog unless it is harming you or your property (such as livestock).
A couple of years ago, a bowhunter (on private property) shot the neighbors beagle because it was running loose and screwing up his hunt. It made it back to it's owner just before it died, he is in deep because of it.
Good luck, I hope your hounds make a full recovery.

His dogs cross on someones eles property. Sorry but dogs just can not read posted signs.
I assume this hapened in WV so I'm curious what took place. Did the property owner shoot the two dogs? What did the law enforcement officer do when he got there? I've seen this happen twice with me right there both times so I'm curious how it works out in that state.

It took place in Adams County Ohio. All i know forsure is that the law is working on it. I am sure that Stevo or cjones will give us a full report of who and what the law is doing about all of this.
Sorry to hear of this happening!! I hope both dogs recover and hope this never happens to my dogs while I am present because I just don't know how I would react!! Please keep us informed of the outcome.
