U.P. hare trip (pic)

Post by Hard Driving Kennel »

Headed to the U.P. with a couple of friends this last weekend. Went to a little hot spot and there were more hare there again this year than I seen anywhere in the U.P. The snow was crusty with about 1/4 inch on top. The running was steady. First day we knocked down 5. The second day we never got a gun out. Ran from daylight till dark. Here's A few pic. of the dogs we had down.

Rob, looks like you guys had a good time. I've been up 2X in the last three weeks no guns but the running was great both times. Them hare put a lot of miles on the dogs. This last trip a couple of them destroyed there feet on the crust; probably won't be able to run for the next week now :D .

Nick we had around 38 miles per dog over the two day period. First time bring Doug Collier on a trip he was a blast and learned some new phrases I will never forget.

Nick, dogs feet are shot. Last day we were going to run for a few hours and then leave for home but the dogs got deep in the swamp and ran all day. when finally caught them we had to carry one out because all his feet were tore up. Not enough pickle juice i guess.

Ahhh...almost forgot about the pickle juice remedy for dogs feet. I better get me some pickles tonight so I can get them back in the woods.

Hey Rob and Jammie........I just wanted to say I had a great time it was nice to just sit some hounds down and let them run. I'll have to say it was pretty strange tho listening to the pack and never hearing runner open up or busting out of a check. First time in seven years he hasnt been in the field with me . For you that dont know DC's runner hard has retired due to an injury and now looking for girlfriends.Again..... thanks alot guys had a great time........DC
