I figured I'd share these with the Pro's on here too...

This is my brother's and I's hare together on a base. Just got it back.








This one is my buddies mount he just got back. First hare shot over my dogs.

Nice, that would be cool in an oak framed coffee table with lots of glass.

That is a really good mount who is the taxidermist that can do that kind
of work?
I had one done here and the guy really fouled it up

My buddy has a wood shop spruce. That was my thoughts exactly. We'll see what he can come up with.

Fulcount, the taxi is in Franklin pa. I can get you his info if you like. These are the 6th animal I've taken to him. I'm happy with what he's done. I got 2 whitetails, a bear rug, Woodcock, and these 2 hare. My brother actually has another hare there getting in a different position.

Wow, awesome! I'm no taxidermist, but from the Hare I've seen mounted I would say they are a tough specimen to mount as they didn't look very good. Your taxidermist is obviously talented.....NICE.

Well, you probably won't believe me when I tell you but he charged me 75 bucks a hare. So my brother and I have 150 in the two hare, plus 50 for the snow scene base. So the total came to 210.

The one of the hare sitting cost my buddy 75 bucks. The log its sitting on was included.

Now these are freeze dried hare, so they are actually the complete animal. They obviously lost a little of their size due to all of the water being sucked out of them but I think he did a hell of a job. I am very happy with it. Will be cool once I get it under glass I think. Every other taxi I've talked to either won't do a rabbit, or the price has been 300+ just for one hare, no base.

I figured for 75 bucks if I didn't like it I could just pitch it!!

your exactly right, i sent my first hare out to wisconsin. it cost me $330 [freeze dried] nobody around here wants to mount small game anymore.

Guys, I took 3 hare to the same taxidermist on shayne's recommendation. Like he said $75 and the small wood base is included, cheapest place I found around here was $350 and that didn't include a base.

That was going to be my question are they actually mounted or freeze dried.
I know how hard rabbits of any kind can be to mount.
They are very good looking, I really like the one sitting.

I know you can't tell from the pic but the one just starting to leap has snow all through his whiskers and nose. The one just landing, his feet have little specs of snow. Very cool and realisitic. Only thing I wish was different is that the one running had his ears up a little, and there was a bigger log underneath him. I think I can find a nice little log to lay underneath him though.

I've got a friend here that has a freeze dryer. One thing we learned if they are not in long enough they will aquire some type of bug or worm that will start to eat at the dried animal. If this happens the specimen can be saved by simply putting it into a standard freezer for two weeks or so. All animals should be soaked first in a freeze drying solution before freeze drying.

Weasel
Hare
Red & Grey Squirrel
Pine Martin
Chipmunk
Baby skunk
Baby raccoon

Had some problems with Raccoon, Skunk, and Pine Martin. All good now.
