50lb bag of dog food vs 5 dogs how long should it last?

I have 5 non wormy healthy active beagles that run 2-3 times a week in Missouri weather. How long should a 50lb bag of good quality food last without the dogs getting skinny or fat?

or for easier comparison how long should a bag of 50lb food last one dog?

depends on what you feed. I feed Diamond Extreme Athlete and get 2 weaks feeding 7 dogs

I would guess 3wks to a month. I am feeding 9 right now at about 110 lbs per month on them. Depends on the size of your hounds to. I have some little ones and some bigger ones. 12-15 pounders and 25 plus pounders.

It depends on the line of beagles and their size. Some beagles can be fed about a month on fifty pounds, other will eat a lot more.

As you know food is bought by weight but fed by volume. Each food calls for different amounts per serving. If two foods had the same densities and one was a 40lb bag and the other was a 50 lb bag then you obviously have more volume in the 50 pound bag. However, if the 40 lb bag serving is 1 3/4 cups and the 50 is 2 1/2 cups then that 40 lb bag would last longer than the 50. I did an experiment once comparing several foods. I'll use 2 of those bags for an example. Black gold and purina ppp. I measured each out with a scoop and in those particular bags found there were 96 servings in the bg. It would cost 26 cents a day to feed a dog. The purina cost a lot more per bag and was smaller...but at that time you could get 140 servings out of it because of a different density and smaller serving size......the end result was about 29.5 cents per serving....a lot less than one would assume. Since then the bags have gotten smaller and prices went up locally so numbers would be different today. BG shouldve fed 5 dogs for about 19 days.....during warmer months. When it's colder I up my food. I haven't checked my most recent food....hi standard 26-18, but I like it as good as any I've fed and the serving size is smaller than most and the cost is around 22.50-25 per bag. Every type of 50lb bag dog feed will vary in how many total servings are in it....you'll just have to check to see what yours is.

i have fed about every kind i can buy around here and have had anwhere from 12 to 2 beagles right now im just got 2, 15 in male n female both built about the same the male may be a lil more muscleed but back to the feed im feed black bag pride 24/20 50 lb bags it last about 30 days for 2 dogs and i only feed once per day dont change feed in the summer either feed the same year around if im not running alot n they start to get a lil fat i cut their feed just a little bit jb

13 or 15 inch dogs? When I was feeding 5 my bags would last about 2 1/2 weeks. This was feeding 15 inch dogs.

Thats about the same numbers I am getting. It seems like its going quicker cause I have a pup on a self feeder and its winter so I had to up the amount I am giving...

It is virtually impossible to answer the question for several reasons.
One shoe does not fit all, so a test would be required to determine the answer specifically for your pack.
The test would have to be made over a period of time with the same dogs, same location, same age, fed in the same manner, equally exercised, fed the same brand and formula of food during varying weather conditions, plus considering other factors. Only then could you take the average with the results applying only to those dogs in the test and your level of management. It would not apply to the next Beagler's hounds.
A 15 inch dog may or may not require more food than a 12 inch dog to keep it in good health. We all have had or presently own a dog that is considered an "easy keeper". Or, a dog that has a high rate of metabalism and eats like a horse but remains fit to run all day. The dogs would have to be hand fed with the amount adjusted to the needs of each dog. Of course, during the test period, all of the dogs must be kept free of health issues. Dog treats, raw and human foods are a "no-no". A pregnant Bitch should not be used as part of the study.
But the answer to the question is simply; Nobody knows.

Ya- i understand its not scientific but if a dog of feed lasts one guy two months and another a week something is wrong....

either with the feed or the dogs....
