trial question

The dogs were in the bushes hunting and all of a sudden we heard a rabbit squeel. We went to the spot and one of the dogs had caught the rabbit and never opened or made any noise. Has anyone had this happen at a trial before and if so was the dog awarded any points for it? Also if the dogs are actually running a rabbit and catches it how would that be scored?

A dog catches the rabbit in the brush it is awarded a stike jump in arha lp, 10 for the strike and 30 for the jump even though he did not open up. If the rabbit has already been jumped and the dog catches the rabbit after a 15 second break down he is awarded a check, 25 points. If he catches it while they are running and ther is no break downs he is awarded nothing.

No points.Could have been a sick rabbit. Then again that better than going around the bushes.Give all the dog that were in there points.

The only question I would have deals with the fact that just because the dog has a rabbit in it's mouth is he the one that actually caught it? Some dog want nothing to do with a dead rabbit and will drop it.....letting another dog pick it up. So, if two dogs are in the pile and if you don't see what happens how could you award points?

i had my male last year at the ukc nationals actually get into a nest of baby rabbits and brought one back to us. we heard them squealing but it was too late. they wouldnt award strike points bc he didnt bark before he grabbed one lol..

If the judge knows who jumped and caught the rabbit it is scored as a srike jump. If he hears sguealing and it is to thick to tell that one dog may have caught it and another one took it away then there should be no score ( that cenerio is a judgement call made by the judge). In arha little pack
