DC 40 collars?

Post by triple pines »

Are any of you guys out there still having problems with the collar losing signal? What about these new Astro 320s are they out yet? Anyone like them if they are?

Ive got a 320, the thing eats batteries terrible but other then that I love it. I dont know why they couldnt use the same charger for the unit and the collars, it would make life much easier. I carry extra batteries with me everytime im out. I enjoy watching the 320 to see how well the dogs are covering an area so it is lit up quite a bit but I still wish the batteries would last longer. Other then that I have lost signal only a couple of times and its lasts only a few seconds, so not a big deal in my opinion. The only other complaint I have is the orientation of the compass. I have to recalibrate the compass everytime I take it out. Once its calibrated its fine for the day, but still kind of annoying.

I have the 320 and I think the battery life is fine on the handheld. I can use it all day on a pair of batteries easy and thats with the 10 second update. Maybe its five I don''t remember. If you get rechargeable batteries you will be ok but lithium would have been better in such an expensive unit!!

I have never orientated the compass except for the day I opened it... I wouldn't even know what was wrong if it wasn't calibrated lol I cant figure out how it makes a difference or what happens to know you need to calibrate it.

I love the 320 with birdseye feature It really spells out what your dogs are doin
God isn't real, Beer is good and people are crazy, there I fixed it.

I've got a new DC 40, owned it for almost 6mo, not one single problem. Great range and battery life. Now my DC30 thats always worked great, won't make it past 100yds. Terible signal...

The way I know the compass is wacky is when im standing on a road and it tells me the road is running east and west when in fact it is goin north and south. I use expensive batteries so it sucks they dont last long. Ive used my 320 about 20 hours and have used two sets, maybe that isnt alot but I epected more life out of them. I will have to change the batteries before I use it again.

I went to Duracell Rechargables and battery life is no longer a concern....they charge quick and I have never needed to change in the field. I charge the collar about every 20 or so hours...I could probably go longer but just charge it to be on the safe side.

Also, the only time I have had the "?" was when the dogs got over 500yds and I had the short antenna on the handheld so I just moved closer to the dogs till I regained signal again. If I was running in a bigger area I would probably use the longer antenna that comes with it.

I love my 320 and dc40 so far....I just wish the collars would come down in price so I could eliminate all of my beep-beep collars.
