i dont see why im a loser, fleet wood,do you think a dog that ran a deer should place...i was always under the assumption it was kinda a unspoken rule in the mid west if a dog ran a deer it wasnt going to place. Not saying the dog cant be broke and then be a good dog but on that paticular day he was a deer dog and was worthless i dont care if he ran 5 football fields ahead of the other dogs.it is a gundog association and a gundog that runs deer isnt worth a bullet.

I don't care about field trialing guru. And no, a rabbit gun dog should not run a deer. What ticked me off was that in your second post ever on this board, you jumped on everybody here for supposedly "bashing" the field trial format that everybody on here runs. That said, it was wrong of me to post this
. I do apologize for that...we're all on the same team. Here's to many years of trash-free running! Seriously, i do apologize.

no prob fleetwood,im not saying that this situation happened im saying i was told by more than one person that this happened and wondered if there was any truth to it,but it seems no one knows
Re: is this true
It's not against AKC rules to run a deer but lots of judges will not allow it. It definitely does happen. I saw a dog run deer two differenat times within a 30 minute period and placed first, but that is not normal.

i like the mid west and i know there rule on it but it truely is a major flaw
good dogs run on good days, great dogs run when u take them out
Re: is this true
It's up to the judges how they want to handle it,but in my opinion a Good Gun Dog shouldn't run a deer.

i ran in a ukc hunt that two of the dogs ran across two feilds up a hill and out of hearing range. My dog came to my feet shortly after the race begain. After an hour of dog wrangling the other guys came back with their dogs (one guy was the judge) and said that they saw the dogs on a snowshoe hare. Now my dog was not the best dog but she never ran trash. The guy was judging got first by 15 pts over my dog. This was the 2nd and last ukc hunt i went to.i havnt checked out if there are snowshoe in brookville indianna but beleive it was bs and think a deer runner should be picked up immediately (in any format).. any how i am just a pleasure runner and a hunter and have been to a couple akc trials that what i like is the judge does not have a dog in the hunt. Im sure it happens still

Re: is this true
I wouldn't think any format would allow someone to judge their own dog.
