A general forum for the discussion of hunting with beagles, guns, clothing and other equipment and just talking dawgs! (Tall tales on hunting allowed, but remember, first liar doesn't stand a chance)
Folks, I know there are some hare hunters on here. Any of you have any pictures of some on the tailgate. I have folks down here in the south that need to see this.
Thanks in advance.
Thornie, how the heck are ya??? Been down with gallbladder surgery but am finally getting back on my feet. Bout time with the rabbit season in full swing. Take care and have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!
This pic was from a hunt in VT a few years ago. The hounds left to right, FC Main Man Tucker, FC Louie's Come Back Chewy, FC Papineau's Timer, and I can't remember the last hound. The first three hounds put on a how to run on snow clinic.
This is a Black Hare that was shot by a friend of mine in VT.
This pic is from a 2010 hare hunt in NY. It was -13 when we started in the am.

That first pic you posted the one from Vt? You have some real good looking hounds pictured there.I was curious as to what they're breeding is? They appear athletic and built to run.
Shady,
The first hound, Tucker, is inbred/line bred DFJ breeding. The second hound, Chewy, is out of FC Northway Slim Jim and a Ninja bitch, The third hound, Timber, is mainly Brad-Ju/ Grimshaw bred and an Argenteuil Striker bitch. Timber also won the futurity in either 2003 or 2004. All three can gear it up or down but can pound when it goes below 0.

Thanks for the reply. When I first moved to Tn. in 1995 I bred a female out of Ninja to a linebred D.F.J. male [D.F.J.White Hoss,D.F.J. Smokey of Mud Lake,D.F.J. Chuck Wong,D.F.J. Suzie White,D.F.J. Hoss Bean ] with exceptional results.
That second dog out of Northway and a Ninja bitch caught my eye.Looks loke my kind of hound.
Thanks for sharing your pics.
Shady,
A couple of us up my way have been crossing the DFJ stuff with many different lines. It seems to cross well with most bloodlines. We have had great success crossing with Ninja, Northway, Indian Hills, and Little Man, just to name a few. You are right though, the Ninja and Northway lines definitely throw some athletic dogs that are put together right.
I see one of my pics made it on here already figured I'd share some more. Iv had 71 snow shoe hares killed in front of my dogs since end of October. I tried putting pics up but it only will show half of the pic if you want go to my website and most of the pics are there.
thanks Brandon lane
