Getting pups to work together

I have a 1 year old and a 5 1/2 month old pup that just started. They will both track a rabbit together if it's jumped in front of both of them but if one jumps one the other won't pay attention. And if there's a check and one picks it up the other doesn't pay attention.

They also sometimes hunt in the opposite direction. They've been out together 6 times now, only twice since the younger one started. Any tips on getting them to hunt together? Or will it just start to happen over time? I'm relatively new to beagling so any tips would help.

Take them out seperately. Work with them alone and then pack them up slowly.

Both of them. They will run it together sometimes, but like I said if one picks up the check the other acts like he wants to find the check himself and not trust the other dog. But if I grab one and put it right behind the one that grabbed the check he will take off on it.

Time in the field together and patience. And like stated above kennel them together, that's seems to make a difference with mine.
