I'm about to order the filson tin cloth hunting jacket with blaze orange. I'm wondering if anyone has experience with this product and can tell me the pros and cons. It's a little pricey ( the cheapest I found it was $220) but from what I've heard it will be the last jacket I buy. I know someone who hunts and works hard in it and he's had it for 8 years. Just a little fraying around the cuffs. I have filson chaps and love them. They are tin cloth also. As far as I can tell, filson is 100% made in America.

Any info would be great. Thanks.

I have the chaps and they are the best investment. Filson is a five star company USA made. I had a seam come undone on the botum of the chaps wich was my fault and they still sent me a brand new upgraded pair for no charge!!

Shelter Cloth is lighter weight and more flexible than the Tin Cloth.

What material is the orange? Tin cloth?

The hunting jacket has buttons and the field jacket has a zipper. I know both will be high quality. But what about the function in the field. What's your guy's opinions? About $100 dollar difference between the two.

I like anything with zippers.... chaps, coats, and jackets. The zippers just seem more secure to me..granted they are the good heavy duty zippers.... nylon zippers are crap.

Be carefull, I just went through their site today. About 1/2 the stuff they sell is imported, but at least they tell you what is made in America and whats imported.

I have a set of Wick bibs, coat, and hunting vest thats over 15 years old that I cant wear out enough to justify buying something new, but I did order some of the wool stuff to keep me warm this winter.
