Just got my 8 week old big female puppy from Roger Hanning by FC Pound The Ground Chance X FC Wells Woods Valentine. She is a slick, open marked pup with heavy ticking & has to be the boldest puppy I've had since her great grandmother, FC Wells' Silver Spring & Spring's littermate brother, IFC Stonyhill's Gator. Like Spring was as a pupppy, this pup isn't afraid of anything; jumps around on grown dogs like she owns this kennel. Wells Woods Avalanche could be the future of my kennel. Picture coming soon.....

I like bold dogs. I want to be able to knock one down with the collar when it does something wrong and have it go right back to hunting. Your post made we wonder just how often the boldest pup in a litter makes the best dog. And do they make it because they are bold? Or just because they act the way I like? Anyway, it sure is nice when you get a pup and it acts like yours.

I don't know if it's a sign that they will make good running dogs, but it sure was the case with Spring & Gator. I thought at the time that thier bold personality came from the Pacesetter blood because that was the first time I had used this bloodline. They were by Baba Louie ( Pacesetter X Lady Slipper) X Robin ( Heli-Prop x Amazing Grace). My new Chance x Val pup is marked up just like Spring ; it only looks as though she is going to be much bigger. Val had 6 pups (3 males & 3 females). Roger said mine was the biggest female pup in the litter. Valentine is my favorite that I've bred & trialed & Chance is one of the nicest big males I've ever judged so I've been excited about this cross for a long time & for Roger to hook me up with a nice puppy from this cross has me excited to say the least. I hope I can figure out how to post a picture of her today sometime. By the way, I just saw on the Mid-West site that Chance is leading for Top Derby Sire for 2011 & Val's dam, Silver Star is leading for Top All-Age Dam. The Mid-West is growing in a positive way. I don't have anything to trial this year, but I'll be at a few just to watch & enjoy the atmosphere.

Great! Some may think by the term "bold" I may mean ill toward other dogs. What I mean by bold is friendly toward strange dogs & not intimidated by new surroundings. Good luck w/ your Butkus puppy!

Greg I have a 9 week old pup out of Butkus x Sundown miss Ellie he is bold just like your pup. He takes on my 10 month old pup.

That is the most outgoing litter I ever raised. When I took them out in the yard to play they would scatter in all directions. We would have to find and chase them down to put them back in the pen. Ran with Butkus a Dozen times when the McVays had him. He is the real deal. Ellie is my pride and joy.
