You Need To See This Machine Work Our Club

Post by mcardery2k »

It is hard to believe they have done this much work in less than 2 weeks. We are hoping this will put our club back into action.

I run a 4-5 year old cut over that is loaded with rabbits. This will be a great running spot in no time. Nice looking area!

Mark, is that new ground or just re-doing the grounds inside the pen? All of our big clubs close by are trying to do the same and switching to natural grasses lie switch grass and lespedeza. Thick trees and saplings sure make it hard to judge. Do ya'll plan to remove the stumps and plant or let it come back naturally?

That is our club grounds inside the fence. The trees and brush have just became a place to protect the predators. We are going to start planting several types of grasses as soon as possible. It is going to take a lot of clean up. The good thing is we have really good top soil. That is a rare thing in WV. You can see from the pics that he is getting most of the stumps down to where we can mow over them. The ones we can't we will just have to work on. All the tress in the background will be gone in a few weeks. It is amazing what they get done in a day.

I have always heard if at all possible don't leave any trees for hawks and owls to use. Most rabbits die from attack form above than on the ground. Give them overhead cover, with out giving the birds any advantage.

looks like they are shredding the wood? Did yuor club have to pay for this service or is it a logging company clearing the land and paying for the biomass they harvest. The club I belong to is looking into this as a way to get some money for new fence and help us get our grounds back under control is why I'm asking. If you can give me some info, it might help convince some of the old timers that this is the right and best thing to do. Thanks. Good looking progress.

We had several people in and tried to sell the wood. We even had the Forestry Department in and they all told us the same thing. The wood was just not good enough to sell. We found this company that was willing to come in and chip the whole club so we just had to make the decision to go with it. It is amazing the progress they make in a days time. This is a pic at the end of two weeks.
They still have a lot of stuff to pick up and chip but most of the trees are down. They have done a really nice job for us.
Click on the pic to make it full screen so as to get a much better idea what it looks like.
