Keeping my hounds confortable in these extended days of near or triple digit temps is not so easy. Although they have plenty of shade, clean fresh water and fans that are running 24/7 in each run. They appear to be stressed somewhat by the heat.
No doubt that lack of exercise contributes to the problem and running at night is not an option as the temps are in the 90s then. To make matters worse, the month of August, which is normally has the highest temps of the year, will began tomorrow. Truly Dog Days of Summer !!

have been running my dogs a couple times a week in the heat, i think it helps them deal with it better. started running this morning at 6:30 ran till 9:00. but i would not start running them in this heat , they need to get used to it gradual. jmho.
