What bloodlines or stud dog consistently throw big houndy dogs? What are your thoughts on how much the size of the female being breed plays a role in this also?

Depends on what style a dog you run there is alot of studs that throw dogs like that but slow- medium -fast-line runner swinger ect..

Well I guess you can say I'm more of a akc midwest kinda guy. So let's just say out of the studs in the general services which ones bring a lot of size to the table and puts it in there pups? I know size isn't everything but that's just what I prefer for the style of hunting I get into at times.

FC Howards Bandit and Well's Bucken Bull should throw the size you're looking for

trails will throw size!

I 2nd Trails. He will give you size in not only your males but your females too.

Thanks guys, Another question i have to go along with this is have you ever made or know of a cross that was made where the whole litter ended up oversize or was full 15's?

I raised two litters out of Ashers Missy(Sire Praters High Jumper-Dam Praters Pretty Girl) and both litters went big. She was bred to FC Hill's Primetime Trailblazer first and some went over 15 in that litter. Second time bred her to Noe Him by Ohio Reggie and they were 15, or very close.

A friend of mine bred his bitch to FC JNK's Blue Boy Runner and all the males went over and the females were 14 +.

I would also look at FC Side Hill Keuka Blue, he's been throwing some big pups.

IFC Taylor's Sock It To Me blood has always been known for good size & straight, athletic conformation. FC Brent's Prime Time was a grandson to him & there were several big males & a few females by Prime Time that went over 15" & were too big for trials. Also, FC Saussers Jack, FC Riverbend Lightning & FC Wes' Whitey were all 15" littermates. They were by a 13" male, Eyers Geneo, but thier bottom side traces back to Sock It To Me; I'd say that's where they got thier size ( Blue Sly breeding). I have a male that is double Prime Time, Bucken Bull on the General Services page & I think FC Saussers Jack is on there too.

Thanks alot guys! Great info! It's always intrigued me over the years about the size some throw and don't throw. I've seen 13's throw majority 15's and vise versa. Just don't know what to expect sometimes until you get them. Any other info like this feel free to keep it coming. I'm enjoying this board alot so far!

I understand what your looking for is 14-141/2 good blocky head strond built hound personally i like 12-13 beagles 14-15 look good but you get over 15 around here they laugh you out of the woods you get 16-17 you aint got no beagle you got a trashy coon hound that runs rabbits

Guys can think what they want but it's not gonna dictate what i like and look for in a hound. Full 15 athletic houndy looking hounds is what i prefer but if they run the way i like a smaller hound will stay in my kennel also. Thanks again guys for the info! Those type of hounds here are usally plentiful and outstanding and cheap i wished i could bring myself to like that size of hound what i was saying out of 25 houndsman 22 like them small ther are some high breed well know studs here forsale all the time
