last time I hit up the feed store I bought two bags of BlackGold Puppy chow Maroon bag. First bag no problems. I got daisy on it she has pups under her. She was eating 4 cups a day. I had my shooter pup on it she is almost 5 months old she gobbled it down. I had the little 5 wks old pups on it they were enjoying the heck out of it. That bag ended. So I got the other bag I had in the house. Daisy Don't want any of it. My shooter pup won't touch it. The pups don't like it I saw one of them throw some of it up.

I put down a bowl of blackgold Puppy chow for my shooter pup Nothing. She won't touch it. I put a bowl of Sportmix out for her she ate it like she was starved I switched the bowl real quick and she stuck her head in it and stopped cold. Switch it out for the sportmix and she continued eating.

I'm throwing out that bag of blackgold. Something has to be wrong with it?

I'd take it back to where I bought it for a refund or another bag. The dealer may want to keep an eye on the rest of that stuff.

just got in from feeding the lil pups. Sat down a bowl of royal canin puppy chow. They sucked it down like they was starved. soon as i get them fully weaned I'm going to fill up the auto feeder for them.

I've always had good luck with blackgold for my adult dogs. This time around I must of picked up a bad bag of puppy chow. :?:

I've posted before that I've fed Black Gold and several dogs began to litterally starve to death. This was years ago... I guess quality hasn't improved at the same rate as their price increases.

For the price, I like the hunter green colored bag of "The PRIDE"; 26/18. I have even raised pups on it with great results. It costs around $ 20 here in southeastern Ky. In the warmest summer months I switch to Purina Dog Chow for grown dogs, but stay with the 26/18 Pride for puppies & young dogs that are still growing. I also feed Purina Puppy Chow to puppies at times, but haven't ever liked Purina Hi-Pro for some reason.

Diamond all the way 20+ years never a problem Thats why no matter the price i stay with 1 feed that works for me if it gets to exspensive i cut down on dogs switching feed all the time is not for me

Call black gold and give them the batch number so they can see if others had the same problem

I'm still a little scared to feed Diamond after the trouble they had a few years ago when several dogs died across the country due to the deadly toxins found in thier dog feed.

I haven't had any problems with Diamond other than sometimes my dogs have some loose stools. I haven't tried Black Gold as its not avaliable locally & dealers are too far away.

Several years ago myself and a buddy fed black gold, for a couple years the dogs did good on it. Then we got to the point you could not keep weight on the dogs and they looked like crap. We stopped feeding it and I won't feed it again. I have read on some of the coon websites about getting bad bags of it and another guy says one bag is dry as a bone and the next can be soaked from the fat sprayed on.

I don't know what their issues are at Black Gold, but they certainly have quality control problems. My experience has been the same as many of the responders, when switching to Black Gold, my hounds had the diarrhea so bad they dehydrated and almost died. I gave the bag to a neighbor who has chickens, and they wouldn't even eat it.

I have heard horror stories like that about it for years. As much money, time, blood, sweat and tears and etc we put in our hounds, just cant risk it. I heard alot of guys love it and that is great.Im very glad for those who have good luck and enjoy it.

The constant switching of a dogs diet will keep ones system screwed up My opinion is get on one feed that works for you and stay on it Diamond has had its issues but i have feed it along time and my dogs look great eat it very good but i do have a loose stool from time to time but that could be something bsides feed i like a feed with bonemill that is what keeps stools firm i skip feeding 2-3 times a month and the reason is to keeep them eating good and i bone them to clean thier teeth and feed them triump 2 times a month and absolutely NO red meat from slaughter house we lost 78 grey hounds and 13 beagles once from red meat
