Help, litter due!

Post by bocephus52804 »

My first litter is due NOW! Yesterday was day 63 and here we are well into day 64 with absolutely no signs of labor.

She was bred on Jan 1st, 2nd and 4th. My question is how long do I wait until I should bring her to the vet?? She is a first time mother and I am a first time breeder so any advice would be appreciated.

I have seen them go up to 67 days, but that is not the norm. Sperm can live in the female up to 48hrs and that can push it out 2 days. She will be fine. Wait another couple days and you will have you some puppies. Good luck!!!

Don't wait too long, I lost an entire litter last spring because the pups were too big for her to have. Ended up having an emergency C-section and all the pups were dead but one and it died a few days later. Watch her very closely and at the first signs of labor give it about an hour or so. Then if she hasn't had any pups get her to the vet. This was my dogs 4th litter and she was 5 days over when I took her to the vet due to work. Now I am afraid to breed her again.

As ststed by others she may have taken until the 4th so I wouldn't get to worried yet. I have had them go up to 65 days from the day of breeding and they were only bred that one day so you should be ok.
