Careful with the Rimadyl...
http://www.doglogic.com/rimadyl.htm
We have used it before but at a limited or reduced dose. 5 or 6 mg daily for long term about 1/2 a tab short term.
It Does Work But the Side effects in SOME dogs can be Life threatening.
just Like ANY Drug..
I Would, and have used the joint supplements with Glucosamine and Chondroitin
Add Cod Liver Oil To Meals Anything with a good health Dose of omega 3 and omega 6 will also help

I fed my dog dried trachea, and he now is walking and running so much better. He had patella luxation. It is when the dog limps behind alot, or holds their back legs up. Trachea and also chicken feet are high in natural glucosamine / chondroitin. i used to give him the pills, and they helped but the trachea really worked better. I'd give him a 6 inch piece every few days. Here is a link to a supplier. I used to get them from a private person who sold online but I lost the email but this site isnt too bad on price.
http://www.valuepetsupplies.com/Chews-T ... /sc322957/ You can even get your own, if you hunt deer , take out and save their windpipes . You dont really need to dry them.
good luck

Go to Walmart or Sam's and purchase a large bottle of glucosamine / chondroitin. Give him 1/2 pill daily, it will take 4 or 8 weeks but you will see a big difference and the stiff joints will disappear. The bottle with the most milligrams per pill are less expensive as you give fewer pills per dose....

With all due respect Sir, know reason to run a 10 year old dog 4-5 hours, time to invest in some younger stock. The ole fella deserves a good retirement with moderate running for exercise. jmo
