Pine Timber land question

Post by Kerry Nelson »

I posted this under a different topic and had no replys, but has anyone ever hunted on pine cut over where the hardwoods have been sprayed to kill them? We hunted a 600 acre farm that was a perfect looking place for rabbits and we seen 1! It may have nothing to do with it there might just not be no bunnies, but it seemed a littlke strange. Kerry

We hunt them all the time and usally they are full of bunnies.Hunted one Saturday as a matter of fact and plenty of rabbits in them.I like hunting burned cutdowns that have been replanted, these are usally loaded with rabbits. Most of the ones we hunt are sprayed from the get go ,not long after the seedlings are planted and it will keep the hardwood saplings from coming up but I have hunted cutovers that have been sprayed a few years after planting when hardwood saplings were already 8 to 10 ft tall and it killed them off then the briars would usally come in.
