Well today we set out and met up with Ben and his 10yr old nephew hunting a farm south of st.louis where there was alot less snow than up north. The farm had a good mix of cover. Some CRP fields and alot of downed trees in the woods. Dogs kicked up I think about 8 rabbits or so for us. A few didn't want anything to do with them....lol I don't blame them for going straight to the hole but a few wanted to run for the dogs.
10yr old Ben knocked out 2 big cottontail's on this hunt. He was doing good early on in the hunt with 2 shots and 2 rabbits. Another rabbit later in the hunt took both he and I to take down. We got that on film...lol
I urge you to take a youth rabbit hunting. Its one of the best hunts you will have. Their eyes light up when they hear them hounds bringing ol Mr. cottontail around. Its fun to watch them pet up the dogs and learn their names the first time you tell them.
TAKE A KID HUNTING!!!!!!!!!!!
