What do you guys think of this pedigree?? It's a little tight maybe but Brandon sure sounds like he's got a couple of good ones coming up for him now. He's got a couple of the pups for sale on here and I'm planning on getting one for myself. The size and style suites my preference so I'm thinking I'm gonna give it a whirl.

How many of those dogs in the pedigree have you seen run and what did you like about them? IMO, pedigrees without first hand knowledge of the dogs up close don't mean much.
I had two litter mate sisters and they ran nothing alike. I bred them to the same stud dog and their pups had different running styles.

This cross looks good.

From the bottom:
I like the 1/2 bro x 1/2 sis based on First Prize.
Go up...and you have 1/2 bro x 1/2 sis based on Banjo and Tally.
Overall, you have 7 crosses of Round Pond Mr. T. (Jumpa is a grand daughter of Mr. T)

Its a good way to see what you've got lurking in your line!

Good Luck,
LPB

Not a single one of em. Now if you ask how do I know if I like their style??? A guy that I run with weekly and at some times daily that runs the same style dog I do and who's knowledge and opinion I trust implicitly knows most of these dogs quite well and also knows the breeders and owners. Is this as good as first hand knowledge?? No, but it's what I've got to go on this time around and since I trust the guys opinion I'm probably gonna go with it. But I do know what you're saying Newt. I've got/had littermates and they were nothing alike in style or how they handled a track. I just like the pedigree to see what traits could or should be in there but in reality with pups you just never know. But that is also another reason why I like to see those same names in there a few times over.

Really I just kinda wondered what you guys think about how tight it is. I like to see the Round Pond and Ranger Dan in there that much but is it too much or too close in your opinion???

I will probably ask the guy to see the parents run when I go over to his place to see the pups.

I do agree with you though Newt......it's generally better to see the background dogs for yourself if/when possible.

From what I understand yes.....but like I said I'll probably see if Brandon wants to run them for me a little bit first so I can see for myself. The bad part is I would think you'd want to see them run a few times to get a good feel for them for sure. One time out can make a good dog look like crap or a crap dog look like a champ.......just depends.

Bunnyblaster,

Are you ok with inbreeding? I thought you had a pretty negative idea about it. Are you trying to talk yourself into this cross because your instincts tell you to stay away?
