Got a big scare this morning

Got to run dogs this morning before work.....needed a little stress relief.... Irene was doing a pretty decent job circling the rabbit then it headed for a frozen pond.....I was close enough to see all of this but far enough away not to be able to do anything.....as she for closer to the pond she rejumped the rabbit and it went out across the ice and fell through.....she was sight chasing the rabbit so she did the same....I ran my azz off to get over there and see the rabbit come trough the ice on the other side with Irene right behind it like nothing had happened!!!!! They went under the ice.....scared the hell out of me....now that's some desire!!!!

Wow...SCARY!!!!...glad she is OK....and Tough hound too I might add!!!!!

I saw this happen one time at a field trial...it wasn't my dog but it freaked me out just the same.

I was trying a dog out one time and the rabbit ran on to the ice it was chest high water ,I know because My daughter Paige was there and her dog fell threw on the side but the dog I was trying went to the middle and fell threw ice was about 2 inch thick ,we ran dow the hill Paige got her dog and the dog I was trying was hanging on to the side of the ice it was about 40 degrees out I went in hit the ice with my fist breaking ice to him when I hit the last one close to him he went under I grabbed him told Paige we have to get home quik and he was fine Think God I had desided already that I wasn t going to buy him ,but I would have then

I have a buddy who lost a dog like that but in a river. Glad your experience turned out alright. Thats a good dog that rabbit wont want to mess with again.

You got lucky!Sometimes our dogs get on the ice on the stripper pits in our area and will it speed your heart rate up.We know if they go through and they are towards the middle,it is going to be a bad day.We all know it is one of the hazards of beagling,but we still get out in fields and cross our fingers!
