Another Question About Feeding Some Raw

I'm still playing with some raw added to feeding kibble and I have a question on how much. I buy the leg quarters and have been cutting them in half and giving half to each dog. My question is should I be cutting it into 1/4's or 1/3's and just give that along with the food I'm already feeding or give them a 1/2 like I have been and very little to no kibble when they get the chicken? I would think it would be better to give them a little bit smaller piece more regularly than a bigger piece less often but I'm not for sure. My thought's are to go with the 1/4 to 1/3 of a piece of the leg quarter along with their normal kibble ration every other day and possibly every day in extremely cold conditions especially since I'll be running them more now that deer season is basically out.

They are all healthy and looking good but I was just kinda wondering what you guys that feed some raw think.

I gave my dogs the entire leg quarter. Just give it to them and let them have at it. Plus I give them 2cups of their regular kibble first. give the raw chicken 3 times a week. One big chicken leg quarter.

Thats what I did. Just what I am doing right now. don't know what others methods are? So i'll be watching this thread.

I am wanting to venture into big BEEF steaks with bone. But don't really know what to buy. The chicken was easy enough. Big giant bag of leg quarters. I even got a 5lbbox of chicken thighs for $2bucks or so. They chowed them down fast. 2 per dog on them. they have a bone in them.

If you have a butcher shop around, go ask them about buying scraps. They're mostly bones and fat, but usually about 5 cents a pound around here. I can get 20 pounds for a dollar at the local shop. The dogs look better within a few days. If the shop were closer, I'd be feeding about 80 percent raw.

Not to be a know it all, but your hounds will not get tape worms from muscle tissue. If you feed them guts and all you can infect them. Raw deer is what I feed mine and they look great on it. I feed it about 2 times a week. I am sure the others are just as good. I have been mixing mine with kibble and having no issues at all. A LOT less crap in the pens and some days none at all.

Its ground up meat with vitiams added its boiled to kill all the bacteria in the meat its high in protein and it comes in tubes of 10lbs its is the best stuff i have ever seen to fatin a dog up they can digest it good compared to raw meat raw meat lays in thier stomach for 3-4 days before they can pass it and it all still is not digested thats why they look blowted when you feed it and your pens will be clean for a day or two thats whats chancey it laying in their digestive system Triump is the same thing but prepared better and the added ingred.. once they get to looking good on triump they will stay that way then you can feed a little every other day and they will run a whole in the wind you wouldnt want to feed a hyper dog alot of it if you ever try it i promise you will like it all hunters here feed it because they can hunt thier running dogs for days in a row and they keep thier weight never look bad it is a additive to your dog food not feed alone i mix mine with lambs milk and low protein feed because your protein comes from the triump not all meat plants have it we because we have so many grey hound farms but none of them feed red meat

For gods sake Bunnyblaster I would quit feeding raw while your ahead, if you follow Rabbitsmokers advice you'll be better off! If not, the whole kennel may be dead by tommorrow morning- raw is poison dont you know! If you are interested, after the first of the year I will mix and ship you 10-15 pounds of what I have been feeding for the cost of the shipping alone. Try it solely for a while and see what you think. I will warn you as Rabbitsmoker did you may kill off the entire kennel, so I cant be held responsible.

advice....buy a meat grinder!

Get the beef fat scraps from a butcher shop or slaughter house. Grind it up put it in 8oz meat balls. Fat and all just grind it up. 8 oz is about all my dogs needed a day on raw. My dogs never looked better. Wrap the 8oz meatballs in wax paper to help keep them from freezer togethor into a mess. It helps you kkeep a good stock and rotation of meat in freezer and thawing for the next day. that is the biggest hastle for me about feeding raw meet. The thawing of it for the next day especialy in winter when you cant just leave it out to thaw in you're garage or feed shed. That triump sounds like a good thing! I'd love to get ahold of some of that! klrconcrete haha got any you wanna send my way?? Boiled rice and green beans are good fillers, to keep the dogs tummies full, and keep them from barking all night. If you can find the right means RAW is the cheapest and best way to go...people say sportmix keeps there dogs slick they'd need sunglasses to look at them after a raw diet LOL.
