Re: female urinating in box?
I have 2 4 month olds and I moved them to a smaller box on the above ground kennels and 1 will still pee in the box and the other doesn't! I also have a 9 month old that will pee in her box and sometimes poop to I don't know a trick but I have heard smaller box will make them quit but so far I have a 50/50 on it!

I am having the same problem 2 females side by side,A smaller box is no way because of the set up of my kennels,If someone has a solution please let us know.
Re: female urinating in box?
Are you using straw, hay or cedar in the box? If so, take it out and wipe down with diluted bleach to kill the urine smell. Put some hay or straw in the far end of the run of their cage, away from the box and that will make them start going out to the grass to pee. See if this helps. Once they start peeing outside, put some cedar chips in their box. If they start peeing in the cedar, take it out, clean box and lower the ceiling height so they can barely get in. Hope this helps.

I have a four year old and she's been doing it since I got her 3 years ago, I have cleaned with vinegar which takes away the smell to the put that they have a hard time finding their spot again,I think she does it because it's cold out and she dont want to go out into the run.

Box is simply too big. Make the box no bigger than they need to lay down and they WILL NOT pee where they lay. I've had the same problem with every female i've ever owned. They don't need very much room when they curl up, plus they"ll stay warmer in a small box.

I have had the same problem with them peeing and pooping in the box and in the summer time I take all the bedding out of the house and they won't do it but in the colder months of winter I put concrete blocks inside the dog box so they have just enough room to lay down before I put the bedding in and they won't do it and one of mine is 4 years old and has done it all her life.

Re: female urinating in box?
I have one that does it only if shes in a above ground. Ive had several before that were the same way didnt like going out to go to the bathroom on the slats and would go in there house. What i did was put solid floor in a 1/3 of the kennel and the rest slats that way they had some solid ground under neath when they first came out of the box.
