female in heat,now has sore's

I bred a female last week to one of my red dogs and I was out with her a while ago petting her and found that she has scabs all over.I's this something to worry about or is it something that they do while breeding,I'm not sure if the male was bitting or what but she's eat up with those things.

Could be anything from her bedding, to the feed your using, to flea or mites.
I'd change the bedding and start putting a tablespoon of bacon grease on her food. We used to put a handful of rendered hog cracklins in the feed and break a egg over it, they stayed fat and slick, but that was back when dog food you bought left a lot to be desired. I still like to break a egg over their feed once in a while. I got a little girl down the road who's raising chickens and selling eggs for a $1 to make her money so I eat and feed all the eggs I can to help her in her business venture...
I don't think the male had anything to do with this unless he gave her fleas or mange.

It could be the bedding,I put it in while she was in heat.but i have started to put some deer meat in with her feeding along with my running males trying to fatten them up beacause they are slimming down to much.

If she has sores on or in her vagina you should take her to a vet just to be safe.

No sore's there just up and down her side's almost like she's went through the briar patch and got stuck by every one!!!

If you are useing oats straw i would say that might be it ,cause most dogs dont do well with oat straw.Dan

If they are just down her sides then it sounds like the males nails were alittle long and he was scratching her while holding on.

She had ceder in her box and all the little sores are like from the shoulder's back,i took out all the ceder and have'nt put any thing back as of yet but I have never seen a dog with this amount of sores on it's torso area before with No scratching.I thought flea's,I sprayed and took out the chip's,the only thing that i did find that I thought was odd was a mosquito on her back and we have had some single digit temps but hs'e in the welping pen which is heated with a swinging door.

The dog still has sores all up and down her side,I've took all of her bedding out and now I'm thinking of changing her food!!
