Re: hare hunt
I stayed up there at Chucks two weeks ago. I took two of my sons Alex 15 and Ben 17 years old and had a great time. The running was a bit spotty the first day, but the next two were running non stop. We only shot one rabbit but ran two or three a day and had a great time. My kids are still talking about it. There is nothing like having a pack of dogs run by you barking on a hare. I plan on doing it again next year and may try to plan some time while everyone else is up there too. I called Chuck to see how things were going up there lately and he said the running has been great except for one day of high winds. He said he had 30 dogs staked in his front yard. I am sure those guys will have some stories for the board when they get back. I hope Chuck R has some video "for the Web". Heres a pic of my son Ben and one of my house hounds Copper. Also one of me. It was a great time. Thanks to Chuck for inviting me and my boys and letting us stay at his place. All it cost me was a bucket of chilli, chicken & dumplings, and a vensison roast. Oh yah, and some chocolate donuts that nobody ate but disappeared in only three days.

Re: hare hunt
Looking forward to it. How about some pics of your accommodations on the Island also. I heard you brought your own place to stay in so you would not have to keep the fire going.
Hope to see you next year or sooner.

Re: hare hunt
I just got back from the Island last night. I had the oppertunity to meet a few guys from this board that I have only talked to here. We had a blast, good friends, good hounds, and good food and I met some new friends. The running was great with dogs going out of hearing several times. I didn't take many pics (I left that up to tsa la gi ) but here's a few that I took. yottie gunner, I got your text I just could not answer it because my cell doesn't get good service up there.

Heres the guys, thanks for another wonderful trip to the Island. sorry chuck we didn't mean to cut you out of the picture, well maybe we did

I want to say a special thank you to Mr. Jim Bonner. He reminded me alot of my dad and that brouht back many memories of my childhood on the Island. THANK YOU

reddog, pretty soon you are going to have to buy your neighbors place just so the dogs have somewhere to sleep. one of these years i will make it up there, sounds like a blast.

Chuck,
Thanks for a great vacation, I had a blast running hounds and meeting several from the board.
I concur on Jim Bonner, I lost my Grandpa's when I was very young and even though he is only 70 years young, He reminded me of them.
Jim, Chuck and I will have to plan a trip to come down before spring.
Chuck, I'll drive, that way we know we will make it there and back in the FORD!
I must admit for a retired GM worker, you handled the Chevy took a sh*t very well!
I have another picture but I don't think it is appropriate with you showing me who's number one and all.
Good thing I had the Big Ford Diesel to save you.

Re: hare hunt
Swamp, did you have plowboy hiding under the bed? I didn't see him.
Chuck's a good guy, but you know a Carpenter does the least upkeep on his OWN house(truck)...
Now I have to go out and see if the tailgate is still up on my chevy or if it's fell down again or not... oh! and the onstar that I didn't upgrade a couple years ago started talking to me on the way home...onstar ready...onstar ready...guess they want me to upgrade and subscribe again...NOT
I have to say I got 19.7mpg on the way up(very good) but 18.4 on the way home as I was pushing it a bit (lost the puppies
)
Was nice to meet and see everyone again. (We gotta get that little feller a hound tho...
)
Did the gps trackers ever get any better? The reports weren't very good that I heard, the evergreen density may have been to much for a signal? I know the DISH tv signal wasn't worth a crap and we used the rabbit ears to get the local weather report.
Oh! and the cover was off the hot tub, didn't know if you guys used it during the night or if the wind blew it off but Bud and I wish we could have gotten some pictures of that event...

Re: hare hunt
SR,
It was nice to finally meet you.
I think Allniter has Plowboy and Tsa la gi confused, must be that southern accent.
The tailgate problem must be another GM thing, Chuck had problems with his also.
However the heater in the tailgate was working fine on his, you know, for those cold winter nights when you have to push it!
It's quite interesting how the 4x4 works on those Chevy's too, Chuck had to tap on the steering wheel 3 times, rub the dash counterclockwise twice, and stomp the floor board before it would kick in.
I get 20 to 21 consistently with the diesel whether it is empy or pulling the big tandem axle.
Jim Bonner gave him a little female, I think he was pretty happy.
He sure is a nice kid.
After I lost Pearl for the night, I quit using the garmin and used Chucks telemetry collars.
As for the hot tub, you'll have to check with Tsa la gi, Darla stopped walking up and down the street after he left.
We saw Bud at the gas station, sorry to hear that all the pups were lost.

Re: hare hunt
Allniter,
That was Tsa la gi, I figured the accent threw you, quite understandable.
Its hard for a northerner like me to understand that southern drawl sometimes.
Just ribbing you Chuck.
It was nice talking to you and hopefully you can make it back next year with DEA and we can run together.
We ran with DEA on Saturday for a while, then he had to go look for a doe he had shot the night before.
He had said that his DC-30's were working fine also.

Re: hare hunt
Thanks again Chuck,
I am planning on being there next year. I was hopeing that next year Hammerenpatch could come but thanks to Swampman
posting about Darla he`s out.
Seem`s as though every time she walked by every one else saw her before me and pointed her out. Hummmmmmm.
Oh well I know you guy`s really like me.
I`m glad you guy`s like Jim, don`t know as he will be there next year. I was on the phone talking to him and he was explaining to Sherry his wife about how I smelled like the oder of old Whale Oil Potion used in a massage therapy by an islander,
you know how Jim talks very slow and methodicaly. Sherry asked to talk to me and asked what this was all about, I said she should ask Jim seein as how he new a lot about it, silence, next thing I heard sounded like someone racking shells in a shotgun him sayin in a hurried voice you
I gotta run. When I get my camera and post some video`s and pic`s maybe I`ll have an update on Jim.
Glad to have met DEA, Alniter, Bud, an talked to SR, I`ll swear I don`t know a thing about your hot tub.
Well gotta go now an say a short prayer for Jim. I`ll post as soon as I get my camera.

If I had a dollar for everytime you pulled out the "I can neither confirm or deny " card, I would have a pocket full of cash.
I just had to explain my excessive laughing to my wife
after reading your last post, were missing a smiley rolling around and laughing!
Again, thanks for a great time and the wonderful hospitality my friend.
Jim, your wife is in my prayers, hoping all goes well.
