Sock It To Me x Camp Creek Gertrude
I have been looking into this cross for sometime now and it seems that this was one of the best crosses that has been put together. You see alot of great hounds coming from this cross that have been winning and placeing in every format. I have also spoke with several gun hunters that have had this line in their hounds and they strongly agree that this is the type of hound they like to hunt. I also know that anything from this cross has been crossed with hounds coming from Northway, Old Branko and Birchlake with great results.
I have found that the cross of Sock It To Me and Camp Creek Gertrude was done 4 times with the following results:
1st cross
FC Holden's Lakeside Pepper
Eaton Brook Pardon Me Maggie
Twin Lakes Black Arrow
2nd cross (most seen in pedigrees)
Elk Creek Amazing Grace
Elk Creek Gentle George
Elk Creek True Grit
Blue Banks Moon Pie
Blue Banks Prima Donna
3rd cross
Gatewood Me To
4th cross
Gem City Sock It To M Cowboy

Re: Sock It To Me x Camp Creek Gertrude
Sorry I posted too soon. The reason that I brought this up is because I was wanting to hear from people on this board that are or has run that cross before. I know that Bobby Vest, Adshire with the Valley, Wells Wood and Pine Mtn have had great results along with several gun hunters that I know of. I was also wanting to know if any of the before mentioned hounds held any titles that are not listed and if there are any hounds from that cross that I am missing.
Thanks
Duane
Thanks

Re: Sock It To Me x Camp Creek Gertrude
I saw Elk Creeks Amazing Grace & Blue Banks Moon Pie run many times through thier life. In my opinion , they were the best two beagles to ever draw a breath. They were tri-colored, full 15" built strong & athletic, with big houndy heads. They ran with speed & control like I've never seen since with loud fast chop mouths.
I don't think any of the other hounds from this cross were as good as these two from what I've seen & heard.

Re: Sock It To Me x Camp Creek Gertrude
If Pepper was anything like Pie & Grace, I don't doubt that she was outstanding. Pie & Grace were only entered in 1 trial , Jessamine Co. '92 & placed 1st & 2nd in a class of 62. Pie was bred to FTC Kingwood Shorty once with average results & FC Branko's Jackpot twice; the first cross produced FC Brent's Prime Time & FC Brent's Bircklick Chimer. I never really heard much from the second cross. Grace was bred to IFC Branko's Heli-Prop, FC Branko's Lumberjack & FC Branko's Jackpot. The Prop pups all died of Parvo except Gay's Spring Creek Robin, Gay's Spring Creek Casey & another male that wasn't trialed. There were several good ones from the other crosses, but they weren't trialed either to the best of my knowledge. I bought Robin when she was around 6 months old & owned Casey for years also. Robin seemed to be the best producer & is the foundation of my kennel. Everything I own goes back to her. I also owned & finished Prime Time & he is in most of my breedings as well. I had the best luck crossing to more Jack of all Trades & Prop bred dogs; I also had good results using IFC Trakarab Pacestter blood & IFC Haunted Hill Shaker. For some reason adding more Sock It To Me blood didn't turn out as well, but my results are based on very limited breedings.

Re: Sock It To Me x Camp Creek Gertrude
I know that when crossed with spur they made great hounds, it produced hounds like Pint Mtm. Chester-sire of Junie, sire of Spade and many more FC and LPRCH. I aslo know that a double breed sock it to me male was breed to a heli-prop daughter and it produced very well resulting in the 2004 high hound FC Hardtimes Diamond. The male that I am picking up is a double Sock It To Me x Spur x Texas T and on the bottom is a double Sock It To Me x Spur x Texas T. He has been line breed to the hilt. He was the reserve High Hound in BP in 2007 and only like a few points from becoming a BPRCH. The more that I looked into that cross the more that I like it.

Re: Sock It To Me x Camp Creek Gertrude
I had the opportunity to hunt with blue banks sweet singer and he was one of a kind to say the least.
he had a unreal nose.i have a young dog here that pine mt breed that's just like singer.(a big nose)
hes singer top and bottom and t-rex/star top and bottom.i think you have to be careful
how you cross it or you'll end up with more nose than their brain can handle IMO.
Also had a couple out of gertrude they also had a big nose.

Re: Sock It To Me x Camp Creek Gertrude
Yeah, there's nothing wrong with that bloodline in my opinion; goes back to a ton of IFC Mt. Zion Pete blood. Good luck with him. I am adding similar blood by breeding to Shooter; his dam, FC Pine Acres Mollie has some of that bloodline & I also have it through BJ's Fudd's granddam , FC Black Point Bessie & I have the Sock It To Me through Pie & Grace. Camp Creek Gertrude was by East Coast Trimmer & he is bred very similar also; more than people realize. That's why I'm partial to some Branko hounds as well. I can only raise a litter or two a year, so my knowledge of what characteristics certain bloodlines will give you is limited, but I like to see the lines that I choose to trace back to similar foundations of hounds known to be outstanding in the field.

Re: Sock It To Me x Camp Creek Gertrude
Greg, I think that you hit it on the head with Mt. Zion Pete! If you trace all the hounds back you will find that Northway, Sock It To ME and old branko have one thing in common Mt. Zion Pete and that is why I think that they cross great together.
From what I have seen out of these hounds they have a huge nose, all day/night hunt, desire to persure like no other, with an unwilling ability to run a great line at a fast pace; and this is the reason that I am going to start introducing more of it into my kennel.

Re: Sock It To Me x Camp Creek Gertrude
I like the Sock It To Me, Northway, Kingwoods T Rex mixes. It's like Greg said if you look back a few generations from top to bottom you are looking at Mt. Zion Pete. It is scary how many of the great bloodlines that we have today are Pete from top to bottom.

Bobby, it was great talking with you the other day on what you have done with this line. I know that you have had great results coming from Chester crossed back into Kingswood and also Junie, I hope that we will be able to get together and run some hounds this coming season.
Thanks again for all the info that you gave me on this line

I just wanted to bring this back to the top and show Peytonbeagles one aspect of how I research a line. I would also like to thank everyone that gave me a PM or a call on the Sock It To Me line. I know that I took up alot of your time but I hope the end results will be worth it.
Thanks again

Re: Sock It To Me x Camp Creek Gertrude
In my own opinion, which aint much, when we meaning bobby and will and my self first fell on this stuff, i was sold due to the fact of the ability to produce rabbits from deep within a briar patch whan most would not even go.All day dogs and never have heard a dog that had a mouth like T-Rex to this day. I Love this line of hounds with all my heart due to the fact i have never seen a quitter never. Mt Zion pete flows strong thru our hounds , i have wished i could have seen him go, he must of been a hell of a dog. I aint gonna preach anymore but i love this line they may not win as much but they are very very level headed hounds. The best cross i have made was junies full sister to Iron Eagle. Not thru yet though i got a cross that is really making me grin, Hatfield was the breeder Fc High Flying Casey to Junie i got a bitch I am really looking forward to gun hunting she aint turning one quite well yet but she is showing promise and thats what i need to see, also got a couple of 4 month pld pups outta junie and abby that may get some fur in there jaws if it all works out, SOOOOOOOOO I am a believer of trex over branko with a splash of spur with a dose of sock it too me.Greg Wells wrote:Yeah, there's nothing wrong with that bloodline in my opinion; goes back to a ton of IFC Mt.
