Albon to 3 week old pups????

Been researching and can't find anything that lists a possible age limit for Albon. Anyone ever used it on 3wk old pups & the dam?

I cannot remember giving Albon to pups so young so I cannot attest to what effects it may have. The recommended dosage is usually 5cc per 10 pounds of body weight. If your pups are in good health/condition, I would say start with 1cc of Albon and if no problem, step it up to 2cc per day. I would hesitate to dose higher that 2cc. If you do nothing, surely you will lose one or more.

For mature dogs the dosage that I use is 5cc per 10 body wt the first day, then 3cc per 10 pound body wt each day thereafter for as long as needed.

Are you using 5 % or 12.5 % ? I mix 1 TableSpoon of 12.5 % in 1 gallon of water and use as drinking water. I use Sulfadimethoxine 12.5% Solution liquid (generic Albon) cheaper then Albon but same thing.


Below is the dosages for 5 %. I think both are safe for puppies but never give to a pregant bitch.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:

Initial Dose: 25 mg/lb (55 mg/kg) of animal body weight.

Subsequent Daily Doses: 12.5 mg/lb (27.5 mg/kg) of animal body weight.

Dogs and cats should receive 1 teaspoonful of Albon Oral Suspension 5% per 10 lb of body weight (25

mg/lb or 55 mg/kg) as an initial dose, followed by 1/2 teaspoonful per 10 lb of body weight (12.5 mg/lb or

27.5 mg/kg) every 24 hours thereafter. Representative weights and doses are indicated in the following

table:

For 3 wk old pups you need albon suspension.
The yellow liquid. Got to get that at the vets.
