I just got a bitch that just had pups. They have been weened from her but she still has milk on her. Is it ok to run her? And how long it will be until the milk sack is gone? Thanks for any help. I havn't fooled with a female that has had pups.

id personally let her dry up should take a couple of weeks. With them full of milk they can get scratches and tears on their tits.

Your question depends on a few variables. How much milk does she have left? Are her teats dragging so low that they would get caught up on every little thing and get all tore up if run? Common sense should apply here. If you think that she looks like she will get all tore up, then don't run her in the field.
Someone once posted on here about giving lasix(sp?) to a female to help dry her up, but I would contact my vet before administering that as you could very easily dehydrate her by doing that if you didn't know exactly what you were doing.
If you are concerned about getting the dog back into shape after the pregnancy, then take her out for walks on the leash for a week to help ease her back into shape.

My vet told me to cut the mothers food by 2/3 for a couple days and she will stop producing milk, then you can feed normal amount of food. I did this with my bitch and my pups are just over 3 months old and the mothers belly is as tight as a drum.
Keep them running

cut the food back for a couple days to stop production.
I have also used the white vineger as well and camphor will also do the same which you can find at the drugstore. It is like 90 + % alcohol.

This is what I have always used to dry them up and it works Day 1 fast the dog, no food ; day 2 Only 1/2 normal portion; Day 3 only 3/4 normal portion ; Day 4 back to normal portion: Day 5 run the dog.
