How much is too much iyo ?
I'd like to hear from trialers , hunters & pleasure runners .

Thanks in advance for your comments .

I have been runing about 4 to 6 hours a week. I try to get out about daylight and run until I get tired and hot. By then the dogs are tired and hot too. I really would love to run more, but its just to hot.

Being a teacher, I am able to run just about every morning. I usually get started about 6:45 and run to around 9:00 in the morning. I have the luxury of running about 5 minutes from my house, and there is a pond where I run. The dogs don't have to ride a long way in a hot dog box, and there is plenty of water very close by while they are running.

I run 6 to 7 days a week, I run early in the morning till mid morning and then I run late at night and where I run at there is a big creek and plenty of shade and plenty of water. I run about 6 to 7 hours a day alternating dogs. I might take pups in the morning and grown dogs at night or grown dogs in the morning and pups at night. I have been running in Indiana at leat one night a week. Rusty Lyons

I run in the late evening about every day during the week. Like Pete I don't have to go far to turn out. I am probably avereraging about 2 hours a night, sometimes more sometimes less. I also mix in a few mornings when I can. Seems to be enough when the tempratures are in the high 90s. Friday night we went around 7 and left at 9:40 when the cooler was getting empty.

I am now running about 7-10 hours per week and it is going up each week. I go when I can and as long as I can. I have hounds being conditioned by Jim McGuire and they are getting hammered on probably 6 days a week at 3-5 hours per day. One female Jim has for me has been run up to 4hrs in the heat. She has that extra go to her though I am confident she can take it. I think you have to consider the conditioning and weight of the dog(watch the chubby ones!).JMO.

Dean , Greasey is a really bad place for snakes . I'm sure it's full of
rattlers too . You were fortunate not to lose any hounds . Thanks for
the invite to Red Bush . I really like that club and may come just to
watch those fine hounds in action .

Thanks to everyone for your replies .

4-8 hours a week............depends on my schedule and how hot/humid it is when I have time to go. Some weekends I have my mornings available which gets them extra running time and other weekends I don't. I try to keep them in shape and from getting too rusty this time of the year. Then when things start to cool off we'll hit it a little harder to get ready for rabbit season.

I just took mine out on Sunday for the only the second time since April. In MI there is no running allowed from April 15-July 8. I let them run loose in a school yard by my house to stretch their legs and work on there handleing ocasionally, but for me it has been too hot this summer to make time for it. I finaly broke down and got central air a few weeks ago. If I would have had that I may have had them out a little more in July, but with no good way to cool them off I figured it wasn't worth it. All they did in the heat was pant and lay around trying to find some where to cool off. We have had alot of rain also and the misquetos were brutal when I went in early July. When I did get them out they were a bit rusty but it was good to hear them trying to keep up with the rabbits. Now I will be trying to get them out more often and tune them up for cotton tail and hare season. I know I may sound like whimp to some, but staying cool in SE MI this summer has been rough.

If your talking about Greasy Creek. Shelbinia,Ky, I live on Greasy and run 3 to 4 days a week there. Last night is the first time i have had one to get bit, "knocking on wood". I t was just a copperhead and i've never had one rattlesnake bit.
