Helping the Rabbit population
Hey everyone im lookin for some opinions on something. I have a small 30 acre private land spot where I run my dog at and its got a pretty good rabbit population with some really good rabbit cover. Lately,I was wondering, besides trapping some preditors and makeing brush piles is there anything else any of you do to help out the rabbit population to ensure that you'll always have good running in a certain spot?? Any tips, advice or opinions are welcome.
Thanks
Matt
Thanks
Matt

you can build feeders for the rabbits and also put your salt blocks in it so other animals don't get it. we use cender blocks on there sides so the rabbit can go into it and put plywood on the top of the blocks

I read something about mineral blocks with selenium. Said the selenium helps in the defensive against parasites. Now I've been around livestock my entire life and know it has its benefits in other ways, can't verify in defending against parasites. I guess if the animal is deficient in a mineral, replenishing it, will make them stronger.

I would include feed strips wt clover, winter wheat or rye grass. I use salt blocks wt sulfur. I break them up & put in inside the cover in chunks. You can also buy small blocks, split them in half and spread around in the thickets.

Clover, vetch as a cool season legume, peas and beans as a warm season legume. Turnips are good, plant the seed in late summer or early fall.
Cover is the single most important thing to have on your running grounds and you have that already. Go with the salt, plain, mineral or sulphur.
