Coyotes and Bobcats

I was just wondering who runs cats and yotes, (intentionally), with their beagles and what would be the best bloodline for it?
Thanks,
Jumpy

JUMPY - You have more guts than I do with the Bobcat and Coyote thing. If I was ever to intentionally put my Beagles on "off game" (anything other than a rabbit) it would be Grey Fox, which is a nice race with circles 1/4 to 1/2 mile.
To respond to your question; I am not sure that there is a best bloodline of Beagles. Bobcats, when tired of running, like to climb trees, go into dens or climb the root mass of blown down trees. Unless your Beagles will bark "treed" or can see the Cat and bark "bayed" the race is over and you likely will never know what happened. It is somewhat like a rabbit going to ground and the dogs leaving the hole to look for another one.
As for Yotes; They are known to attack and kill dogs in pursuit of game and even turn on the dogs chasing it. It is, however, a great way of reducing the number of dogs that you are feeding or culling from your pack. The problem being is that you do not get select the one culled by the Yote.
I would suggest Walker hounds for Yotes and for Bobcats, any bloodline of hounds that are used to hunt raccoons and will bark on the tree. Beagles are best suited to run rabbit or deer.

There are a number of guys on this site that run yotes with beagles, usually oversized ones. I would have to agree with the other fellow with the bobcats and treeing, even though I have had one beagle that would bark tree on house cats before I broke her of it.

Walkers all the way or walker and redone cross will be gritty enough to trail, jump and run the crap out of a yote.they will also tree and bay.You can run them with beagles but thats about it.

I run bobcats with my grade male beagle here in central WV. I killed two (bag limit) and ran 4 others last season. If running with beagles, barking treed is not an issue that I've found as my beagle doesn't pressure the cat to tree like a long legged Walker would. He has treed two however and they don't stay treed long anyway. If you approach the tree, they bail out and run. Out of the six cat chases last winter all but one circled eventually. The one that didn't circle climbed a sumac and ran into a load of #2s. They run a wide circle sometimes out of hearing and that is hard to get used to sometimes. I have found that where you run and or kill one there is usually another in the area so it can be fun especially with the snow on.

Hey. John Butcher says hes missing a house cat from around that area. From the description he gave, you might have killed it. :)

I work with John. He told me before he had a neighbor with beagles that was a forrester. I showed him your pic and he came up with the housecat idea. :P
