Starting Pups

Post by movalleyal2038 »

Just wondering how many of you folks start pups with a pack or solo.I have done both and would have to say the results were the same in the long run.I do believe a young hound needs alot of solo time to learn to jump, and develop patience ,im talking about just getting them to run a track. Al

I do both,I will show them arabbit when they are just a couple months old and mess with them but you have to remember a pup has a short attention span so just a few minutes a day. Then I will put them in the training pen about 5 months old for a day or so even if it doesnt do anything it will get use to the brush and smelling around then about 6 to 7 months I will leave them in the pen for about a week,if they dont show any intrest solo I will put a good line running jump dog in there to show them the ropes. Some pups dont need all this attention because they start easy but others do.Sooner or later mother nature will run its course and they will start.good luck!Everyone has different methods but I know what works for me.
