Heat cycles

I have a female that is going out of heat and I noticed that two of my younger females are starting to come in. I was just wondering if a dog's heat cycle will change if they are around other females in heat.

It sure seems like it does but I don't think it actually has anything to do with it. JMO

It actually does induce them into heat. The pheromones given off have something to do with it. It happened with a female I had to be bred as she brought another of the stud owners young females in heat.

I don't know how you could prove it either way. I had three bitches that were due. The youngest one came in heat at about twelve months. A few weeks later another came in heat after about eight months between cycles. This bitch is normally on a six month cycle. The third one has yet to come in heat and it has been about ten months since she has been in heat.

I don't know if this is true or not, But I heard from a repuitable source, that dogs will sometimes come into a "silent heat".

You can't tell cause they don't swell up or bleed or wave. Its dangerous cuz a male dog can tell. I had one that skipped her 2nd cycle, and all I could tell was maybe some humpin on the other dogs. At the time I had no adult males on the place, so I could'nt tell for sure. Has anyone ever heard of such a thing?
