That question is impossible to answer. Gay bred dogs have no definitive speed. Some won hare trials and some won UBGF Trials. It depends on the breeders since Frank Reese passed.
There are a lot of folks who claim to have Weir Creeks but Weir Creek Buzz was a hare bred hound and has been dead for decades.

My dog is weir creek bred mostly and he is a med-fast about a 7 or 8 speed. The Gay bred dogs I have seen were about the same.

Weir Creek dogs are about 5-6 on speed or the ones I have seen are. I am originally from Kentucky and have moved to Alabama and alot of people run dogs bred this way down here and I have ran with several different dogs out of this blood line and I would call them a solid medium speed. Seem to have good noses and can run a track like they are tied to it. And the ones I seen have good hunt but to me they lack foot for me.

I watched the video clips of jdell and he seemed to be much faster than the ones I have seen run. The ones I have seen didn't have near the speed.

Mine are Gay with a touch of Dingus which they run about 7-71/2 the reason for the question is i have an opportunity to purchase a 51/2 month old good looking wier creek and thought about mixin some of that in but i didnt want a rediculous slow breed or one that blows a hole in the ground i have always herd they cross well with gay but never actually knew for sure i have never owned a wier creek hound That J DELL is real close to what i run maybe a step slower that little hound dont let no grass grow under his feet lol

I would say that j dell is only wier creek on top side. The wier creek comes from the jd dog which is an outcross acording to the add. That being said the wier creeks that I have seen were med to upper med speed .

I'd call the Weircreek and Gay type dogs a medium speed hound.I haven't seen the one of them with that breeding that could stay up with the typical Branko,Primetime,Turbo bred dog on a hard driving race.
