need your thoughts on nt dogs breeding problems

Post by wildcatfan0309 »

i have a turbo bred bluetick male that im very proud of
and also have a great female and she is a proven reproducer
ive been really excited about making the cross between them
and ive come upon a little problem
he is having a little trouble breeding hes knotting on the outside of her
and i dont know if hes penetrating or not but i know hes trying but not doing any good
i tried it 3 times and hes knotted on the outside of her everytime
i read somewhere that a dog dont or cant knott unless he inserts her i dont know if this is true
but if so im hoping he spreads his sead before he comes out and knotts
i put them in the kennel togeather last night and im just gonna let them stay togeather untill she wont stand anymore
and hope for the best
dont really know what else to do
ive put them in close quarters and then ive put them out where they had plenty room
and hes done the same thing both times
i have another male id like to breed her to
but then im afraid she would possably be bred by my male allready
so i definetly wont try the other dog now
whats your guys thoughts
can she be bred without a good tie between them?
and do you think there is something wrong with one of them?
and another thing is that she is 10 years old and im afraid this might be her last cycle knowing my luck
thanks a ton
josh

I know of a Grand Rabbit Champion in this area that has been bred to a fair amount and I've been told by his owner that he doesn't"tie" with the female as I guess he has the same problem as your dog but he's sired a lot of pups none the less.

Josh I have had this problem in the past and had to go this method also. Is the female taller than the male? I saw another case where the female was taller and she was put on low ground until the male knotted her and after he tied the man just held the female so she couldn't move around and cause the male to pull out. Good luck.
