We went hunting on the last day of rabbit season. I scouted this area the week before an found a abundance of rabbit dropings. but, when we went to this place that weekend we didnt find that many rabbits. I have two good jump dogs so that is not my problem but, the question is have u ever had this trouble. it on private land so no one has hunted this area.

The area you found is the place where the rabbits go to eat, this is usually at night and they return to where they live during the day. Do a little more scouting and im sure you will find a very thick spot with alot of overhead cover. This is how it works for snowshoe Hare where you find alot of droppings is where they eat, Some where close by will be a swamp or something. Maybe that honeyhole

Don't know the date of your season end or what state this was,but you have to figure the predators have been working on them all winter. The rabbit droppings will still be around for sometime when the actual rabbit isn't.Also as rabbit fever stated, this is where the rabbits feed under the cover of darkness.I hunted a place that was loaded with rabbit pellets, but the cover had been flooded for duck season so I know there weren't any rabbits in there.Moved into another area 1/2 mile from there and you couldn't stir the rabbits with a stick they were so thick.
