We have had below freezing at night and near 50 in the middle of the day.
So we take a late start and hunt on really old snow but the dogs have done well.

Ran at a place Sat. that's had the timber flooded half the winter.Water was out of it but there was a bunch of rotten ice left.Dogs ran great until the rabbits hit this place and then they would lose them.Ran a different place and type of area Sunday. This was a WA that they have been working on the habitat, such as feather edging and creating weed patches. They dogs ran the first rabbit over an hour and came close to catching it when they forced it out into the open.Ran second rabbit almost as long before it finally took to a hole. The first place is one of my faverites to run as I haven't ever had to worry about ticks there.Just need for them to drain it some more and the last of that rotten ice to leave.

We just got rid of two feet of snow and up until yesterday hadnt ran in over a month! So I would take dry conditions over no conditions any day. We got out, the dogs jumped five in two hours, circled four but they were rusty, kinda looked like a blooper film on rabbit huntin. They got the job done it just wasnt pretty. It will only get better from here on in I hope. Good runnin to all of you! May you all have a great year of hammerin!

I'm like you and just glad to see the snow go. The rabbits are finally coming back out to play again so we can at least get some running in unlike the last month or so. The spot behind my house you would have thought every rabbit was gone 2 weeks ago and last night we jumped 4 or 5 in just under 2 hours. Races weren't great but they are getting better with less and less snow. They seem to be more willing to stay up and play at least for a while now.
