West TN????

I was planning to make a trip out to west TN to hunt swampers this coming weekend and am hoping to hear from anyone out there if the bottoms are too flooded to hunt or if they are huntable.
I know we have been getting a ton of rain and snow the past few weeks and hated to make the trip down if the water levels are too high.
The Hatchie River bottoms is specifically the area I am heading to.
Thanks in advance for any info.

I hunted just north of the Hatchie last Sat. and the bottoms were so-so. The ditches were pretty deep but where I was the woods were ok to hunt. By this coming weekend, you should be fine, just make sure to bring hip boots.

Thanks for the feedback - was there much water standing in the woods?....like ankle deep in the woods or were they fairly dry?
Thanks again,
Pete

Hey!
All I've got is knee boots. If you need hip waders to hunt then the water is too deep for me and my beagles!Seriously. I've been to the bottoms in west Tn. when there was so much water that you couldn't even get around to the places we wanted to hunt. When I hunt swampers I expect to be sloshing around in the wet all day but if it's flooded that's another story. We've had a ton of rain and even places here in middle Tn. are soggy.

The woods were pretty dry where we hunted but all of the ditches and slews are filled up so it makes getting around a little tricky in knee boots

We did the best in small cain thickets and very thick stuff right along the rivers bank. Good luck and let us know how you did.
