wish they would open hawk season, just restocked my starting pen a couple weeks ago and was giving the rabbits time to adjust before accepting puppies, well walked my pen yesterday and found a head and a half eaten carcass.I have been seeing a pair around for a while and shoot up in the air when I see them but they come right back. They are everywhere and reak havoc on the small game in my area.

they are picking my chicken off here, we have way to many hawks it's nothing to go out front and see 3-4 of them each time.

Those silver bellied crows are in season year round here. Ive never seen as many as out in missourri , but they still have plenty rabbits. I see 1 here and I think its killing all the rabbits!

Most my good rabbits spots are holding 1/2 the rabbits they used to. The only thing that I can contribute that to is hawks or predators. I believe mostly hawks. It is nothing to see 6+ hawks in an outing. I wish Missouri would look into the affects that the hawks may be having on our rabbit population. Just my .02 though

I know if they are into your chickens or tame rabbits you can deal with the problem, and protect your property.

I saw one get a cottontail in a clover plot last summer and now they are dialed in on the training pen.Someone told me the other day that they rarely get rabbits, mostly snakes ,rats and othe small mammels.Well maybe true but how many snakes, rats and other small mammels do you see when there is snow on the ground and a daytime high in the mid 30s.I wanted to tell this person that he was an idiot but couldnt bring myself to do it.I believe a rabbit is there main source of food this time of the year but maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me. :bash:

Thats for sure Mike, we are loaded with them(Hawks). I ''hear'' that there has been 200 plus killed by a group of fellows in my area, and yet they are still everywhere you look.
Probly just a rumor anyhow. ;)

My top 2 running spots now have big nests right in the middle of them and rabbit count is way down. I think hawks are a factor, there is no denying it but its the owls that will put a hurt on in the winter when the rabbits are up moving around. How many rabbits do you see up moving around on thier own accord in the daylight on snow? Hawks go to bed at night.

I wish we could legally shoot them in Missouri
