A general forum for the discussion of hunting with beagles, guns, clothing and other equipment and just talking dawgs! (Tall tales on hunting allowed, but remember, first liar doesn't stand a chance)
Tom Floyd and Ron Wagner lost their Freeway dog in a snare at Addington last night. By the time Tom got to him it was to late he was lifeless. I would like to say how sorry that I am for your loss. He was a great dog, I ran with him several times.
It seems to me that the person setting the snares has a responsibility to warn the public that that the area is beung trapped. I have had a couple of dogs caught in steel traps. Lucky for me and the dogs, I was close by and released them before any damage was done. No warning was given in the way of signs that traps were set in the area.
Sorry to hear of your loss, but memories of him remain.
Sorry for your loss WAGS. I know last year they were traping across from Cintas. I saw the guys one day out there and they showed me where their traps were.
I thought,in Kentucky, you were only allowed non locking snares for trapping coyotes. If this wasn't the case,I think someone should be liable.I've snared lots of coyotes and have never had any harm done to dogs.I always make sure of non tangle situations and stay away from anything the animal may jump or climb over and hang itself.Your always going to have a few bad apples in any sporting persuit that give the rest a black eye.
Really sorry to hear about this! I realize the long hours that it takes to get a dog where it needs to be and i know you guys had big plans for Freeway.
Almost thesamething today in NJ. Our female was hung upin a snare, got there in time, thank god for the leatherman tool.cut snare, dog ok. snare had name and address on it. calling game warden monday to make sure trapping is still open in NJ ( it was on state land)
Man that sucks. I lost the best dog I've ever had to a snare. Sorry for your loss.
Dry Creek Kennel-Bred to get it done where it counts the most "under the gun".
