I was out hunting with a fellow hunter today. When we got a rabbit he gave the guts to his dogs. This dosnt seem safe to me. Does anyone else do this? What do you give your dog after a succesful run?

I pet them up good, most parasites that rabbits carry are in the organs including the liver.
All it takes is that 1 sick rabbit, and you are wondering what's going on with your hound.
I would feed them rabbit meat before I would give them the organs.
Some parasites are very difficult to get rid of even with wormer.

I was always told and have read the same thing. Keep them away from the guts. Let them mouth the dead rabbit and give them plenty of prasise for circleing the rabbit but do not let them get the guts. I do give them some scraps when I am cutting them up for cooking or getting them ready for the freezer.

I give mine the feet. They crunch them up and I have done this for years with no problems.

I was always told the guts was bad to give your dog worms so I would keep the guts away from my dogs.

Heart, liver, lungs, Kidneys everything but the entrails. It really turns a young dog on and lets them know what that race/chase is all about.
