Most owl attacks in my neighbors pen result in the head being eaten off. Cats usually eat the back half and leave the head. He has 2 large pens and every predator imaginable somehow gets in there. The 100 acre and 35 acre pens were trapped two years ago. I think that they got over 30 fox, 4 feral cats and several bobcats in one trapping season. There were still rabbits in both pens, but not an abundance. Not much you can do about hawks and owls except have good cover.

I had a hawlk and owl problem what i did was put a 8 foot pole up with a steel trap anchored on top of pole it solved my problem i keep it set and catch one ever ounce in awhile now the first 2-3 weeks i caught 5 .I put mine in a small briar patch and when the bird landed on the pole to scan the area for his kill i got him I just put one pole in mine you may need more depending on how big your pen is

Watch out for that pole. Here in NC a man put one out and the gamewarden video tape him killing the bird.Cost him 5 thousand dollors.Becarefull about that pole. You never know who s a looking. Here in NC it is against the law to kill one.I would not be talking about it only they are pretty birds.Remember the three Ss.Its best just to do two.

I thought it was illegal in all states. I heard it was a federal offense to kill one.

There is nothing wrong with it here IF thier being a nuisence to prorerty or attacking livestock a dob wildlife animal contl officer is the one that told me to do it.But different states have laws i guess thats like deer. Here there is corn and bean farm that gives permints to harvest deer off his farm certain times of the year

Not that I've ever tried it (I don't even have a pen), but I heard people could say, file the jaws on the trap to remove their feet and let them leave the scene.
