I'm going to be switching feeds and was wondering if you guys think 22% Protein 16% Fat is a good amount for active hunting and trial dogs? I was using a 26% protein with a 20% fat Purina blend and my dogs have energy but are getting a little too chunky for me lol. So this feed to me is the next best thing with lower fat levels. Thanks

Best way to find out is to try it, I think lots of time we put too much stock into %'s on the bag. There is usable protein and protein that dogs can't process but they are both listed as simply protein on the bag so it's possible to have a dog getting more usable protein out of a food with 20% protein than a bag with 30% protein

It sucks but in my experience the only way to really tell how a dog will do on a given food is to try it because all dogs react differently to the type of food they get.

I tried it last summer, if it does to yours, what it did to mine, get your Turd Herder in shape, cause it will be piling up !
If your dogs are getting chunky, maybe you could just feed a little less or hunt them a little more, I wouldn't change from something that they do really well on, but that is none of my business, just telling you my experiance with it.
Good Luck,
Plowboy

I had the same experience with Sportmix, it was the worst food for stool I've ever used. Not only the volume but the consistency wasn't too good either
