Homer is in the ARHA Progressive Pack Hall of Fame. I never got to see him go,but I know he put a lot of nice offspring out there. The ones I saw were all fine rabbit hounds. I think that Terry Sudduth is on the UKC forum some, he's the man that can answer all your questions!

Sounds good. I have a grandpup out of him that seems to be the total package. Just turned 9 months old and does the whole show. A little too much mouth for me but a world of hunt, great mouth and bottom.

Terry is definitely the one to ask about Homer. I saw him run once at Terry's home club in Mississippi when he was getting a little age on him and he was still the real deal! The cast included several big name PP dogs of that time period and they "waxed a rabbit" - one of the best casts I have every been out on! They drove a rabbit across the pines into a THICK clearcut where I was sure they would lose him. But after one check or two, they drove him back out through the thinner pines to a second clearcut almost out of hearing. The rabbit ran like a deer in the thinner areas and could not find refuge in the thicker areas. Given another 30 minutes, I am convinced they would have caught the rabbit. The guy I rode to the trial with judged the cast. He said the pack "whipped him" with their solid 50 minute run. However, he was so impressed that he did not mind the aches and pains he suffered the next day. As you probably know Homer died a couple years ago but he left a legacy in ARHA as both a great rabbit hound and a great producer. A male out of him named Suddeth's Mississippi Hammer did well also and has sired some good beagles as well. He is owned by Mike Gee here in Georgia and I think he is still available as a stud.

There's a guy over by the saginaw area named Ralph "Cork" Legue that could tell you more than you'd ever want to know about Homer and that line of dogs. He's a good friend of Terry's and based quite a bit of his breeding on Homer and Driffter........I'm sure he could answer any questions you'd have. If you're interested in talking to him send me a pm and I can get you his info.
