A general forum for the discussion of hunting with beagles, guns, clothing and other equipment and just talking dawgs! (Tall tales on hunting allowed, but remember, first liar doesn't stand a chance)
Ben invited me and my dogs out for a rabbit hunt on a farm that belonged to his family. The area we hunted was a grown up cattle/hog field as well as wood strips and fence rows. The running was a little difficult due to the many hog fence's. The rabbits liked to run thru them and the dogs just couldn't find a way in. They were forced to either climb or jump over the fence or sometimes figure out another way to get around. It did make it tuffer on us be we still managed to get a few out of that area. The woodstips produced a few bunnies aswell. We did get into a covey of quail and Brian was able to get one quail with several shots fired at the quail. We kept following them around till they flew off for a shot. One rabbit ran straight into a hole under a small tree. Some rabbits ran into old junk piles but the dogs kept digging in and they'd fly out. One rabbit climbed into a tree and burrowed his self way up into the tree. Overall it was a great hunt we had alot of fun walking around and shooting at quail and rabbits. This was a first time hunting rabbits with dogs for Ben. I'd like to thank you one more time for allowing me and the pack onto your property for some bunny chases......
We were able to get 8 rabbits and lots more were shot at and jumped. The rabbits were finding some good hiding spots and were very smart at using the hog fence to their advantage.
