i have a beagle that is a year and a couple months...she's one hell of a dog, run run run run...she's not extreamly fast and works a check that any hunter or beagler would love and then is gone once is found. not extreamly fast tho...she's probley a medium and then a fast when hot on track or straight running...and i have another dog that is 2 years old that i just got and she is really fast especialy on the hot trail. what my quesiton is, would it ruin my young dog running them together cause the young dog runs with her? or should i wait till a certain age once she's broke? she's pretty broke for me tho...she's trash broke and has so much heart...just hunts and hunts...what i have liked about running these dogs together is my young dog has learned to cover more area but moving faster through the woods with her nose right on the ground which i love cuase she gets a rabbit running quicker. but this other dog doesn't have a very good check. im hoping that she will come around and learn to not just keep running after she looses it and go back and find the last track and look.
any sugestions would be apreciated

i would have to say that it depends on YOUR dog....i have a male that is med to med fast speed....i have run him with fast hounds and large pack hounds when rabbit hunting...my male will keep the line going.....he will find the rabbit...get the line going then he will be passed up by the faster hounds....then when the faster hounds loose the line...my male comes along and picks up the check and it starts all over again.... i would say that you would need a dog that can handle the pressure of being in the back of the pack...sometimes he may be able to keep up....but when he cant..he must have the patience and confidence in himself to know that he can run the line by himself.....i would say that you would have to have a very good hound with no faults..... ...just my 2 cents
