I don't post much, but do alot of reading around here.
Anyway, went out this afternoon on National Forest.
Only ran 2, but they lasted for over an hour each.
The first ended in 1 shot from my new toy at about 10yds.
And the other ended in a hole.

It's not entirely legal to chop down. If when a firearm was manufactured it was registered as a pistol you are fine but if it was originally a rifle don't go below 16" or it's illegal and a stiff penalty goes with it. Just a FYI
Also, you would be removing the choke and would have to have it threaded for a tube or rechoked (If it were legal).

I bought a youth model 410 from Dicks a few years ago works good for me as i really dont care about killing a bunch. It is very very light is one of the reasons i purchased it as i get winded carrying a heavier gun. Plus i just like to run and cant run a dead one. I recall in my younger days it was like the amount you killed related to how good of a dog you owned. Looks like you had some good running with some good looking dogs.
I hunt with a 410 all the time and have a blast, in thick cover I use my judge and more open areas I have a 410 side by side. Yes I miss my fair share but still have loads of fun.

The 2 dogs on the left are brothers from different litters.
The one on the far right is the oldest of the three.
I agree, you kill it, you can't run it anymore.
I might kill 4 a year, tops. I try to take a few friends and of course my son throughout the season.
After my first trip out with the T/C, I doubt I'll carry anything else, much.
That 3 3/4lbs is soo nice.
It makes my Ultralight seem like a TON now.
As far as the .410, I've used a Win 37 and an Ithaca 16ga w/ reducers.
As long as your picky on your shots, it'll kill just as quick and dead.
Make sure before you modify any gun, please check the laws. Plus, as said,
you would not have a choke.
i hunt with the exact same setup, except my barrel is blued, but anywho, i have killed rabbits around 30-35 yards , but most my shots are are 20 yards and in.....great gun , i love it...plus it leaves both hands free to handle dogs without having to lay gun down on ground.....what length and shot do you use ? i use 3 inch and 2 1/2 nch but always #6 shot

I patterned 3" and 2 1/2" both in #6s.
I could tell a power difference, the 3s having more.
But, the 2 1/2" had more pellets on the board and better point of aim.
The 3" hit higher and not as many pellets in the board.
I had read about the 7 1/2 shot running out of power but still having pattern.
I had the 6's laying around, so I'm glad they worked.
For me, I believe this setup will get many miles put on it.
