I call this venison & rice! lol lamb & Rice or chicken & rice can't touch this !
here is Trouble scarfing it down!
Just thought i'd start another topic. Like i've said before I've fed lots of different dog foods some better than others. I've never been nearly as satisfied with anything as i am with this raw diet though. There is no comparison this is ground venison, with some cooked rice. I cook the rice to make it easier for the dogs to digest since they don't naturaly eat they are'nt programed to digest it uncooked. 1 raw egg & eggshell. I put it all in a bowl and mix it up. The dogs go completely nuts @ feed time now, and they woof it down in no time flat. I have 5 dogs 1 i keep in the house and if i were to line them up and let someone who did'nt know already look @ them they could'nt pick out the one that is kept in the house. There coats all look like they are ready to prance around in a show ring. The picture was taken @ 11 oclock tonight after i got done running but you can still how shiney the white is on her. I'll post some better pics with my camera during the day soon. These were taken with my phone. How many raw feeders are on this board ...can i get a role call ?

if i could see a deer or get a deer close enough to see it i might be able to make that for my dogs but since i cant seem to get a deer to come around me i dont think my dogs will be eating that good so its still ol hard dog food for them!!!!
shaun-i would do some reseasrh if feeding a raw diet-a imbalance of phousphorus and calcium is gonna happen,it may take up to 2 years before it shows but it will/can do permanent damage to liver function
proper balance is 2:1.
i recommened the books-thedogownerslittleblackbook
the merck veterniary manual-----38 bucks at barnes and noble----http://www.merckvetmanual.com/mvm/index.jsp
and any info on product contents.i use these websites to find the nutrtion of ingredients, the biological values are what is important
this site is extremely helpful once you get used to useing it.- http://www.nutritiondata.com/ http://www.bulknaturaloils.com/
if i were to continue to feed raw--next time i will supplement with a product additive to make sure all stuff needed is there so the dog will be healthy long term
also you can google sleddog.com and other sites where they feed raw/fats/oils for good info
Strictly raw here! It is the best thing out there- I mean besides the Purina all grain diet of course. I use alot of beef with a mix of powdered fish, (dehydrated) eggs, beef fat, and a mix of raw ground veggies-usually carrot and Spinich and top it off with powdered milk for Calcium. I switched to completely raw about two years ago and couldnt be happier. Kurt
Not afraid to think outside the box or walk outside the crowd.
i have fed raw,and will do it again.i really didnt notice a change in my dogs except the stool was watery-due to high moisture content of ingredients i would suspect.i didnt add rice/grains etc, just some garden greens
here is some info from the nutrition website.it shows the difference between a raw egg as opposed to a powdered egg.one has twice the fat while the other has twice the protein, energy comes from fats and oils.it may be getting to involved with feeding the raw diet but i chose to do it becuase i wanted to know exactly what was going into the feed/dog as opposed to a overcooked dry kibble/dog food.
one other thing i have noticed is thier coats were getting a little dull,i needed to find/add something that they wernt getting, from my recipe.i was getting my fish oil from here http://www.minntrapprod.com/catalog/pro ... cts_id=590
madcatter we get bonesaw scraps from a local butcher it's close to the same thing as bone meal it has ground up bone from the saw in it plus the eggshell is calcium. I've looked into and so far mine are doing great solid stools. I let my kennel go all deer shotgun week and was gonna post a pic of it at the end of the week just to make a point but my dogs crap maybe once a day and it's small hard stools mine are doing great. I've been reading as i've been going and i've been trying to get everything they need so far so good. I give them raw drumsticks as well the bones offer calcium buddy. I can't see how anyone can feed anything after doing this. Thornie haha if i feed them beef will they start chasing cows too ?
madcatter thanks for the links very helpful!

i think there is a nutrional difference in these powdered products. Some small details need to be looked at avoid prblms like what madcatter is talking about. its just about as simple as how we feed ourselves a healthy balanced diet except for dogs are primarily carnivores so too much of something or too little of something can in the long run develop a problem. however out of all the reading ive done i've come to the conclusion that changing things up every now and then will for the most part take care of all the angles. i wouldnt just feed what i posted a picture of for the rest of there lives. c...there is no real rock solid information anywhere not even wikipedia it just tells about the studies that have been done and most of those are arent even conclusive. the best thing i can figure is to gain as much as knowledge as you can and know the risks and benefits and then decide for yourself. so far so EXCELLENT. the one thing i know for sure so far is my dogs have never been doing any better. that counts for something in my opinion.

Mine dogs have been on a raw diet for almost a year now. I feed mostly chicken leg quarters with a couple soft boiled eggs per week thrown in. They get beef a couple times a week with venison thrown in when I can find it. I managed to get about a hundred punds of elk off craigslist, but the dogs had to share it with me.
